The Spirits' Book (Le Livre des Esprits) is a seminal work in the Spiritist Codification, recognized as one of the five foundational texts of Spiritism. Authored by the French educator Allan Kardec and first published on April 18, 1857, it holds a distinguished place in the study of Spiritism, addressing a comprehensive range of questions later explored by Kardec.

Structurally, the book presents a series of inquiries concerning the origins of spirits, the purpose of life, the nature of good and evil, the cosmos, and concepts surrounding the afterlife. The responses, which Kardec attributed to a collective of spirits under the title "The Spirit of Truth," were communicated to him during various Spiritist sessions throughout the 1850s. Kardec regarded himself more as an "organizer" than merely an author, systematically categorizing questions and answers by theme. He occasionally incorporated more extensive discourses dictated by the spirits on specific matters, some contributions acknowledged to renowned philosophers such as Augustine of Hippo and Thomas Aquinas, alongside literary figures like Voltaire.
